Meet Jessica Vanderbyl, Center Manager of our Alameda location. In this post, she shares a closer look at the clinic and what makes the local community unique.
What types of patients do you see?
Our Alameda urgent care clinic serves a diverse community that reflects the unique makeup of the area. We care for individuals and families of all ages, including young professionals, working adults, and seniors. We frequently support students and young adults, as well as families seeking convenient, same-day care. In addition, we see travelers and visitors who need immediate medical attention while in the area.
Our clinic provides a full spectrum of services, including primary care, treatment for everyday illnesses and minor injuries, and preventive care. We also offer STI testing and treatment, as well as PrEP services for HIV prevention.
Where are you located?
We are located at 2690 Fifth St, Suite B in Alameda, inside the Alameda Landing retail area—a well-known waterfront shopping district. To help you find us easily: we’re in the same shopping complex as So Fetch Salon and eleven esthetics, along with several other small businesses in the 2690 Fifth Street building. You’ll also see neighboring suites like nail salons, skincare studios, and beauty services in the same plaza, so you’re in the right spot when you see multiple storefronts in one complex.
Important tip: GPS directions will usually take you to the correct building, but once you arrive, look specifically for Suite B within the 2690 Fifth Street complex (not standalone buildings nearby). If you need help navigating once you arrive, feel free to call, we’re happy to guide you in!

What are the main cities or neighborhoods you serve?
We serve a wide range of patients from Alameda and the greater East Bay, and are often referred to as our “Alameda Landing” or “West Alameda” location due to our spot on the west side of the island. The primary communities we serve include Alameda (West Alameda, Bay Farm Island), Oakland (West Oakland, Downtown, Jack London Square), Berkeley and Emeryville. But we also see patients from further like San Leandro, Hayward, and Richmond.
Easy access to BART (via West Oakland) makes us reachable for patients across the Bay Area. We’re also close to Oakland International Airport, so we occasionally care for travelers needing quick visits before or after flights.
Any tips for first-time patients?
Here are a few helpful tips to make your first visit smooth and stress-free:
How is Carbon Health involved in the local community?
Our clinic is proud to be part of the Alameda community, and we stay connected in a few meaningful ways:
Overall, our goal is to be more than just a clinic—we strive to be a trusted, convenient healthcare resource for Alameda residents, local workers, and surrounding communities.
Any local ties?
Yes, our team has strong local ties to the community, which helps us better understand and care for our patients. Several of our team members live in Alameda and nearby East Bay communities, and some have family or long-standing ties to the area. We regularly care for neighbors, families, and local workers, so there’s a real sense of connection and familiarity in our day-to-day work. Team lunches and quick bites often come from nearby Alameda favorites, helping us stay connected to the local business community. Being part of Alameda isn’t just where we work—it’s a community many of us are proud to be part of.
