Meet Shannon Courage, Center Manager of our Boston, MA - Fenway location. In this post, she shares a closer look at the clinic and what makes the Fenway community unique.
What types of patients do you see?
At the Carbon Health Fenway location, we see a lot of young adults, especially college students from local schools like Northeastern, Boston University and MIT. We also see the occasional traveler, someone who’s visiting Boston and needs quick care for an urgent issue. So to recap; we get a lot of college students throughout the fall, winter and spring, however, the Boston Fenway location gets lots of tourists to our historical United States city…many to see the oldest active MLB field, Fenway Park.
Where are you located?
We are located in the Fenway area on Boylston Street, at the corner with Ipswich Street, just one street over from Fenway Park (Go Sox!) and a 10-minute walk from the Museum of Fine Arts, through Back Bay Fens.
What are the main cities or neighborhoods you serve?
Most of our patients are local from the Fenway-Kenmore neighborhood. We also see folks from Allston, Back Bay, Roxbury… Boston in general! It’s important to know that Carbon Health does have sister locations in Brighton, Back Bay, Downtown and at the CVS in Charlestown’s Bunker Hill neighborhood. If any of those locations are more convenient then we highly recommend visiting our teams in those locations.
What’s your favorite thing about working at this location?
My favorite thing about working at this location is the Fenway Team. We make care easily accessible to the patrons in the area. A few of us team members have been winding down after work with a bite at Cisco Brewery or Time Out Market, perfect spots to relax before heading home or catching a game or concert.
Any tips for first-time patients?
Street parking can be difficult, but there are a number of surrounding parking options. Our patients often park at SP+ Parking, at 71 Jersey Street and a 3 minute walk to our clinic. We’re also close to many MBTA options, Kenmore is the closest station, and bus lines 60/65. If you have trouble finding us, look for our sign across the street from the Guitar Center and next to the Bon by Morro apartments.
How is Carbon Health involved in the local community?
We partner with surrounding businesses to do events to showcase the services that we offer the community. Here we are at the Boston Families First Fest:
Any local ties?
I am a Boston area local :) I was born in Boston and currently live right outside the city. I spent most of my childhood hanging out in the city with my parents and grandparents, attending events and going to Castle Island and Sullies. Additionally, most of our team members are aspiring PA or MD students currently enrolled in university in the area.
